As I was walking past the New York Public Library yesterday I was reminded of their amazing digital gallery online. I went to a folder on my computer and found these floral motifs that I saved while browsing their Ornament and Pattern:Pre-Victorian to Art Deco collection guide. These are dated 1924 and the artist was Edouard Benedictus. The shapes, the colors, the layers and patterns are so stunning, and something I would want to see as a print on a blouse or a dress today. I love how some of them even look like they’re dripping.
