I have always been fascinated by any type of ceremonial costume. The idea that something or someone can be celebrated by wearing a lively costume and partaking in a ritual is meaningful and supports tradition, which is important to a lot of communities throughout the world. The Yoruba people of Nigeria have some of the most beautiful and fascinating masked costumes that are a work of art. The textures, fabrics, and colors are invigorating and powerful. I wish I owned one, or better yet was able to witness a Yoruba masquerade. Read more about it here.

Everything about this Missoni ad is killing me. I am 1,000 percent in LOVE with the dress. Printed organza and knit with 3D embroidery? Ok, yes. And all the marble action going on, including a zodiac marble floor. It’s all too good.

Hansel From Basel

My friend Hannah has an awesome sock line, Hansel from Basel. It comes as no surprise to me how awesome her socks are because she has some of the best personal style I’ve ever seen. Her most recent collection is full of cool shapes and colors, like a slouchy tangerine style; a muted color block crew; and my favorite – sheer with polka dots. I’m especially excited to wear those with some brocade Miu Miu sandals for spring. Below are some of the new styles I own, plus images of her look book. How adorable is that little girl?! Hansel from Basel also has a line of children’s socks that is making me feel a little maternal over here.

I currently have a hat obsession which has led me down a internet rabbit hole. I found these beauties on the V & A database, and while they may not be hats or head pieces that I would consider wearing to Palm Springs this weekend they’re still ones to admire. On second thought, I am celebrating my 5-year wedding anniversary so that calls for something a little over-the-top, right?

About a year ago my good friend Jessica emailed me a link from Into the Gloss that led me to a feature on a total babe machine named Daphné Hezard from Paris. She’s the Writing Editor-In-Chief of one of my favorite magazines, L’Officiel, that I pick up from time to time. What made Jessica and I freak out over her was how exotic and chic she looked wearing Guerlain’s kohl on her eyes. She was inspired by the Bishnois people in India who wear it every day, and the closest she could find to her kohl experience there was Guerlain’s take, which she demonstrates how to apply in a video. I have to say I’m completely obsessed with it when it comes to adding life to my eyes. Two swipes of that, mascara, a little bit of blush and a bright lip are sure to guarantee a good night out. I read about a new shop in NYC a few weeks ago on Vogue.com and went into fantasy land for a good hour. Emilie Jean Ethnic Antiques in the East Village is a treasure trove of antique textiles, home goods, and accessories from around the world. A love for ethnic jewelry spawned an interest in textiles while living in India, and Emilie Jean began collecting pieces that, according to these photos, are beautifully unique and expertly chosen. Her finds along with an assortment of products are available to purchase and I am so looking forward to visiting on my next trip to NYC. Naturally, I did some research and found this exquisite photo of her from an issue of Town & Country. I’m floored.
