Apparently, I’m not the only one crushing on Carla Bruni. John Galliano made a charming and somewhat seductive reference to the First Lady of France at the much applauded Dior couture show yesterday. It was a brilliant combination of fifties classic meets discreet French chic, what Galliano called “fresh couture–restrained and refined.” The show opened with a palette of black and white; some looks suitable for day and some suitable for after hours. It continued with whimsical pastels and beautiful sheer fabric, all accompanied by magnificent accessories, nothing short of what to expect from Galliano. The hats? My god, the hats. They were like pieces of leather sculpture decorated in embellishments, clinging to the head. The make-up? Chola gone glamorous. It was perfect, and I would totally go all Chola for Mr. Galliano.
