On show at the Prada Foundation in Milan is “Unmissable: The Giacometti Variations by John Baldessari”, and right about now I’d like to be transported there to take in the larger than life sculptures, all inspired by the late Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti and bedecked in clothing and accessories designed by Baldessari for Prada.  In his own words: “Currently there is a blurring of art and fashion.  Why not fuse the two – art and fashion – since that idea is in our zeitgeist?  Is this parody? I’m not sure.  I hate categories and definitions — I certainly am borrowing.  Isn’t that what artists do? Doesn’t art arise from art?  What I am doing is furthering an idea — that is the requirement of any good art.”
