Nothing like a little bit of kitsch to start a Monday morning.  I’ve been exploring the site of House of Hackney, the British interiors company that reworks traditional British homewares including wallpaper, bedding, and accessories.  HoH has dreamt up three beautiful stories for their collection of home furnishings including Dalston Rose, Queen Bee, and Hackney Empire.  English roses and chintzy florals are distorted and given antique print treatments to create “a tale of dark romance and broken dreams”  in the Dalston Rose collection. Fanciful trompe l’oeil mixes with sage green, dove grey and stone to create the mother of all ranges, the Queen Bee. But my favorite would have to be the “debauched and whimsical” Hackney Empire, filled with colorful critters getting their drink on, smoking hookahs, and playing musical instruments.
