I am sure some of you have seen the very beautiful Wayuu Taya mochila bags, yes? I blogged about them a while back here.  Silvia Tcherassi was inspired by the women of the Wayuu tribe in her native Colombia and brought together fashion and philanthropy to keep the tribe and their traditions alive by having them craft their native mochila bags.  She has taken them up a notch and is now finishing some styles with Swarovski crystals and embellishments.  Each mochila is hand made by the women of Wayuu Taya and takes 20 days to complete at Shukumajaya, the Wayuu Taya foundation’s center for women.  You can see more of the bags and read about Silvia Tsherassi on Couture Lab.
