I just discovered the work of artist Stéphanie Baechler and was completely drawn to the beauty of her recent fabric project, Furnishing on Bodies. Inspired by fabric drapery and the mass production of clothing, Stéphanie used curtains, plastic bags, bed sheets and crumbled paper as a starting point and hung pieces on the wall. She then photographed everything numerous times, cut out the pictures, put them together in a collage and then printed them on textiles. The result is a sort of 3-D fashion show, minus the actual yardage of fabric that is used (and often wasted) to create clothing. I love the inventiveness of the project, and the simplicity behind it that literally speaks volumes.
